Reading of the Week

This week's reading is from the Vision Tarot.  The spread is a simple five card one.

Card 1,  Where you are currently: Knight of Staves.  The Knight is about movement.  He is an energetic character.  Things are finally starting to move...but be aware that this movement may be chaotic and unexpected.  Now is the time to carefully monitor the way things are changing and do what you can to nudge the course of the matter to your benefit.  Trying to fully control things is futile - but you may be able to help things a bit.

Card 2, The challenge facing you: Six Swords (rev).  The biggest problem you will be dealing with in the near future is the temptation to allow things to just happen.  This sort of carelessness will undo the work you have done to improve your situation.  Be aware of everything and act where you can to keep things moving as you would prefer.

Card 3, Your best path: Knight of Coins.  The Knight is a very stable ally.  He is a person who can be trusted implicitly.  He can be set in his ways, but this stodginess is a reflection of his loyalty as well.  This week you are called to be that person.  If you are reliable as a person, and stick to your guns, then others will be reliant upon you as well.

Card 4, Insights from the Universe: Death (rev).  Far from being a card that portends actual physical death, the Death card shows us that the world is always in flux.  We must accept the natural changes that we go through during the course of our lives.  Here it is a reminder - if we try to stifle change, it will happen anyway, and perhaps it will not be easy to accept.

Card 5, Conclusion: Eight Cups. If nothing changes, this reading tells us that there is a great possibility that we will get what we think we want if we fight for it - however, that which we want isn't always what we need.  Be careful that you fight for what you need, or you may find yourself dissatisfied and seeking fulfillment again and again.

For All You Crafty Tarot Readers...

You know who you are!!

I was looking for a way to crochet a bag for a deck I have.  Lo and Behold, the internet doth provide!

I love the fact that it gives you basic instructions that are easy to modify.

Reading of the Week

This week's reading uses the New Century Tarot.  I find this one to be great for when you need a direct, unvarnished reading.

The spread is another new one from Aeclectic Tarot called the Turning Things Around spread.  It's been a rough few weeks, I'm hoping this will reveal some good things coming.

Card 1, Top Left, Why are things so rough?, Judgment (rev).  You've been feeling like you get the raw end of every deal recently.  You feel trapped by your situation and that feeling keeps getting reinforced recently.

Card 2, Bottom Left, What is contributing to this feeling?, Hermit (rev).  You are afraid of taking the wrong path and making things worse.  You have tended to seclude yourself to try to minimize your feelings of frustration, but it seems to only be making your situation more acute.

Card 3, Top Middle, How to find the motivation to move forward, 8 Cups (rev).  The key is to just let go of the things that are holding you back.  Stop obsessing and start acting.  The momentum can be created if you just start with a little snowball.

Card 4, Bottom Middle, What help might others give, Queen Cups.  You have a lot of friends who may be able to lend an ear, give advice, and generally help you out.  Now is the time to stop secluding yourself away and start confiding in your allies.

Card 5, Second from Right, Guidance from the Universe, Ace Cups.  There is a whole lot of good potential coming your way if you simply open yourself to it.  If you are so inclined, a little prayer and meditation will go a long way right now.  You may find that the answers to your problems are closer than you think if you slow down and sleep on the issues.

Card 6, Far Right, What can you do to turn things around, Four Cups.  You've been in a rut.  The waters have been stagnant.  Now is the time to get things moving.  There are possibilities coming soon, be open to them and your situation will improve.

There are a lot of cups and a couple of strong Major Arcana here.  This I would usually read as pertaining to relationships, but this reading feels like it's more about professional issues - your job is close to your heart and is therefore drawing a lot of cups right now.  It's been a very unsettled time right now, but with the shakeups you have seen there also comes great opportunity - if you reach for it.  Now is the time to move, not the time to wait for good things to fall in your lap.

Blessings!

Reading of the Week

This is a variation on the Elemental spread, using the Druid Craft Tarot.  This deck has gorgeous imagery.  It's very Celtic.  The only reason that I don't use it more is that the cards are large and more of a challenge to shuffle :-)

This reading is read with the group of five cards on the left first followed by the group of three cards on the bottom right.  The three card group is read as a progression or a cohesive unit.

Central Card, Core of the Reading: 2 Wands.  This week is about making choices.  You have the potential to go in several different directions right now.  You may be confused or feeling indecisive.

Top card, Earth: 4 Pentacles.  Your finances are under tight control this week.  You have taken steps to get your finances and your home affairs in order, mostly by reining things in quite a bit.  This is a card of stasis - things are very stable in this area this week.

Right card, Air: Prince of Cups (rev).  This card, when upright, is a card of travel and swift change.  Here it is reversed - stagnation and difficulty in getting your goals accomplished.  This week you are going to have some trouble getting through to people.  You will also find planning things to be unnecessarily difficult.  If you have to travel anywhere, give yourself extra time.  You may find yourself encountering unexpected (and annoying) delays.

Bottom card, Fire: 4 Cups (rev).  You may find your creative side is stimulated this week.  You will probably start hearing news about endeavours, job changes or promotions, too.  You may have felt like nothing was working for you, unhappy and dissatisfied.  This is going to start changing and shifting.  Good things are coming!

Left card, Water: Prince of Pentacles (rev).  In matters of the heart and/or family matters things may go very slowly this week.  If you are waiting for news from a loved one, don't hold your breath.  The Prince is a stolid, slow moving creature in general, in reversal he is a positive stick in the mud.  Expect stubbornness and refusal to admit that things need to be dealt with this week.

Three card grouping: 10 Swords (rev), The Sun, Ace of Cups.  The beginning of the week might be very difficult.  You have come to a place where the issues you have struggled with recently are fruitless and you must simply move on, at least for now...however, if you can do that, the rest of the week will be very positive!  In both public and emotional matters there is great positive potential this week if you can clear out the dead wood in your mind and move forward.  It won't be easy to accomplish, but it will be worthwhile!

This week has a lot of ups and downs to it.  Ride the flow and don't get caught and you'll do just fine.

Blessings,

Victoria

Japan, Wegman's

If you shop at Wegman's, please be generous in giving to the Red Cross supported donation drive to help Japan.

Thank You!

Japan & Libya

I have not been posting as much this week because I have been following the terrible tragedy in Japan.  To be dealing with so much all at once is a true nightmare!  I ask all of you to join me in praying for the survivors of all three incidents, the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear incident.  Please also pray that the situation stabilizes so that people may start to pick up the pieces.

I have also been following the awful events in Libya.  There is basically a war going on there, and it could get worse.  Please pray that the cease fire continues to hold.

Thank you!

Spring Outlook

For those of you who have known me for a while, you know that for two years running I've predicted the severity of the winter.  I started talking about it around September, and it's been spot-on.  Yup, I even predicted Snowpocalypse 2010.
So, here's my two cents on the coming months.  I think we will probably have a wetter Spring than usual, but we will also get more nice spring days than we've had for a couple of years.  Then the Summer, I believe, will also be wetter than the past few years, with a shorter dry period and not quite as hot.
Here's to hoping my predictions continue to be accurate!
Blessings,
Victoria

Weekend Outlook

Since my entire household has had some serious creeping crud all week, I did not get a chance to post my 'Card For the Day' as I'd planned.  To compensate I give you The Weekend Outlook!

This is a three card spread using the Vision Tarot.

Left, Financial: 7 Staves (rev).  As with all the recent financial readings, be careful if your purchases this weekend, or you may regret your expenditures.

Middle, Health: The Chariot.  Healthwise things will be good this weekend if you don't obsess.  Go with the flow & you will feel better.

Right, Activity: Temperance.  Don't take on too much this weekend.  If you pick just a few things to get done you will be far more successful than if you try to get your whole spring cleaning accomplished in one weekend.

Take it easy this weekend, work on essentials.  It should be a pretty nice weekend.

Blessings,

Victoria

Reading of the Week

This week's reading uses the Tarot of the Celtic Fairies, which was just given to me by a good friend.  Buying Tarot decks can be very difficult because you can't look at the cards easily, so I've noticed that decks tend to get swapped frequently within the community.  If you are looking to buy a deck, try looking online to see the cards in the deck you like before you buy.  Since this one is new, this is a trial run for it.

I'm using another Aeclectic Tarot spread this week, focusing more on inner issues.  The last couple of weeks have been more about finances, I'm looking to change things up a bit.  This is a nine card spread focusing on what is going on in Mind (top), Health (middle) and Spirit (bottom), starting in the Past (left column), then Present (middle column), and moving into the Future (right column).

Card 1, Mind Past (top left): Judgment (rev). Recently your state of mind has been somewhat negative.  You may feel like everyone has had their own agenda and that your goals aren't on it.  At work you may feel as if you've been passed over, like you have no input.  It's probably not as harsh as you think, but that's how you may have been feeling.  Part of this feeling may be arising from your own decisions.  Are you sabotaging your own goals by acting too hastily?  Consider your actions carefully.

Card 2, Mind Present (top center): Page Swords (rev).  You've been readying yourself to fight some battles.  Think carefully about what you're getting yourself into - can you handle the challenges?  If this is a fight worth fighting, then it may be worth a few bruises to win through...but whatever you're facing, it's serious.  It could be overwhelming.  Are you going to the mat for a raise at work, or a promotion?  It may be better to wait it out right now, it may backfire on you.

Card 3, Mind Future (top right):  4 Stones (rev).  As things lie right now, you are determined to fight for what you think you need.  That persistence is to be admired, however, just be sure that you are really fighting for what's important instead of what you think you need.  Sure, if you fight for it you may get that raise...but the time and effort spent on that battle may have been better spent doing an amazing job on that project you are dealing with.  In the long run, finishing the project well may gain you more respect and opportunity than that raise will get you now.

Card 4, Health Past (middle left): 9 Swords (rev).  You may have been dealing with some unexpected health problems recently.  These problems may be serious enough to be affecting your daily life - have you had to take some time off from work?  Has your family been needing to help you out because you've been under the weather?

Card 5, Health Present (center): Lovers.  The issues with your health that you've been facing are definitely improving right now.  Family will be critical in helping you continue to get better.  Those who love you are willing to go to great lengths to help you, but it's your choice whether you accept their help.  It will be a long, slow journey back to health if you don't.

Card 6, Health Future (middle right): 7 Cauldrons. You've just started your journey to health.  Keep your goals realistic.  You may think this is a great time to start training for a 5k race or learning how to do a full headstand in your yoga class, but you really need to work on getting yourself fit before you will be able to accomplish those goals.  Take it slow, be realistic.  If you move too quickly you'll make yourself ill again.

Card 7, Spirit Past (bottom left): 6 Stones.  In spiritual matters you may have been struggling with some difficult questions recently.  Have you been offered help by those around you?  Are you willing to accept that help?  If you have been challenged by a difficult issue, outside advice may be what you need to start moving forward.  Don't be quick to reject assistance when offered.

Card 8, Spirit Present (bottom center): King Swords (rev).  If you've been struggling with spiritual challenges recently, it may be time to reevaluate your own approach to the matter.  You are in charge of your own spirituality.  Do you need a fresh look at your situation?  It may be time to accept the help you were offered, or even seek out spiritual support.

Card 9, Spirit Future (bottom right): Priestess (rev).  There is going to be a chance for you to step back and reevaluate your spiritual goals and challenges.  It won't be simple, but try to take this opportunity for reflection.  This will be an excellent chance to look inward and possibly resolve some issues you have been dealing with.

This is a complex reading.  It may only resonate with you on some levels.  Take what it offers and go with it - you shouldn't feel compelled to follow every single aspect of it slavishly.  I think the greater lesson of this reading is that this is a week to slow down and take stock of your life.  There will be opportunities for this.  Take a walk, go sit by yourself in a coffee shop with your favorite beverage, go to the gym and give yourself a good workout...whatever lets you shut off the outside world and deal with your own issues.

Be good to yourself this week.

Blessings,

Victoria

Updates...

So, First Friday was very cold this month and I wasn't able to set up outside, therefore it was a bit of a bust.  I will look for other opportunities for First Friday and let you know where I'll be.

Also, since Mardi Gras is this coming Tuesday, I was at Fabbioli Cellars this past Saturday, not this coming Saturday.  Look for me there next on March 19th, I'll be dressed as an Irish Lass for St. Patrick's Day.

This week I tried pulling a single Card of The Day.  I think it was pretty successful, so I plan to do this once or twice during the week to supplement the weekly reading.  Be sure to check in regularly!

Leesburg First Friday!

Late breaking news!
I will be at the Pink Shop in Leesburg doing readings for First Friday this week, March 4th from 7-9 pm!  Come and join us for a reading, then stay for live music, wine tasting, and shopping!

Card of the Day

Today's card, which is from the Druid Craft Tarot, is the 4 of Cups.  Today it will be hard to focus.  Are you planning your summer getaway?  Thinking about someone you love?  Whatever is distracting you, try to put it aside for now so that you can do what you need to do right now.  Then later you can have the time and luxury to do the fun stuff!

Fabbioli Cellars Dates For March and April!

Hey Everyone!

For those of you who are not aware, I haven't been out and about as much recently because I just had a baby boy at the beginning of January.  He's beautiful, healthy, wonderful, and exhausting!  I will, however, start appearing at Fabbioli Cellars again for readings.  The following dates are definite:

March 12th (Saturday) - Mardi Gras weekend!  It's a great time to get a 'Spring Cleaning' reading, and see what needs to be changed or updated in your life!
March 19th (Saturday) - St. Patrick's Day weekend.  See how your luck will be this year!  Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!
April 9th & 10th - Come out and join us for a gorgeous weekend!  I can't guarantee the weather but I can guarantee the wine, the company, and the readings!

For those of you who haven't been to Fabbioli Cellars, it's one of the best wineries in the area.  They focus on dry red wines and some great port style wines as well.  The atmosphere and the people there are wonderful!  In the winter you can come inside or go out by the fire pits, and in the summer there are loads of spots for a picnic.  I highly recommend stopping in and trying the wine.  You'll be hooked!

I look forward to seeing all of you.  I'll keep you informed of any changes, and any additions to my schedule.

Blessings,

Victoria

Reading of the week

This week's deck is the Vision Tarot.  The imagery is similar to the Rider Waite deck, but is presented in a more photorealistic manner.  I use this deck as an all purpose, but it is best for general readings or readings concerning business and professional matters.  It doesn't photograph as well on my phone, I must admit...

Today's spread is a general 5 card spread that I read from left to right.

Card 1, Past: 3 Cups (rev).  This past week you might have been enjoying yourself a bit too much, going out with friends, spending a bit too much money, eating a bit too much chocolate.  It's going to have an impact, but nothing serious.  Overindulging every once in a great while is good for the soul - as long as it doesn't become a habit :-)

Card 2, Present: 10 Coins (rev).  Right now things may be a bit tight financially, or you're thinking about a decision you have to make that will make you tighten your belt.  Consider things carefully - an ill-advised move right now may cause some serious hardship later.  It might be better to keep that money as a cushion and wait on that purchase.

Card 3, Hidden Influences: 8 Swords (rev).  Things in your life may not be going as you planned right now.  Look carefully at your situation - is there anyone who might be making your life more difficult for their own reasons?  If so, just keep your distance from those negative influences.  Confrontation could easily make the problem worse this week.

Card 4, Advice: 10 Staves.  This week might be rough.  You may feel that the weight of the world is on your back.  The thing about this card, though, is that although it signifies a heavy burden, it also holds hope - this isn't a burden you can't carry.  Keep your eye on your goals.  They may seem far away right now, but every step takes you a little closer to them.

Card 5, Outcome: 5 Coins.  This isn't the time to make major financial decisions.  Let them keep for a while.  If you didn't take care of that investment last week, let it ride this week, don't move on it just now.

This week isn't exactly going to be all sunshine and rainbows, but it's only one week.  These are all pip, or number, cards, meaning this situation is very short term.  Keep this in mind and think about what your plans are for next weekend if things get rough this week.  Also, this isn't the week to try and mend fences with any relatives who are estranged (or who tend to make you miserable).  Wait on that until a bit later.

Keep your spirits up, things will improve, they always do!

Addendum to this week's reading...

Upon further reflection, I have some more advice from today's reading...

If you've already gotten your tax return or expect to get it this week, don't go out and spend it all at once.  Now is a time to buy that item you've been saving for, create that investment portfolio or retirement fund you've been researching, or put the money aside for your kid's college fund.

Alternately, this is a great week to finally apply for an LLC or Sole Ownership for that small business you've been planning for so long.

Reading For The Week

This week I'm using the Rider Waite Tarot deck, which is considered a 'standard' deck and many of us begin with it.  It is an all purpose deck.

This spread is from Aeclectic Tarot which is a great resource for adding to your library of Tarot spreads.  It's the Situational Guide spread, a good basic forecasting configuration.

Card 1, Top Left, What am I doing Right:  King of Pentacles.  This week financial matters should be going really well.  If you haven't done your tax return yet, this would be a great time.  This is not an indication that a big shopping spree makes sense - the King is a stable character.  Researching long term investments or making a carefully planned purchase is more his style.

Card 2, Middle Left, What am I doing Wrong: Queen of Cups (rev).  Emotionally things are all over the map this week.  Be careful not to be overly sensitive and be aware that mood swings may be rampant.  Try to keep a cool head, even if it's difficult.  Irrational behavior may crop up in loved ones as well.

Card 3, Lower Left, How to improve the current situation: 8 Wands (rev).  The 8 of Wands is all about moving forward, getting moving, sometimes just shooting for the stars so that you at least hit the Moon.  This week, however, it would be better to focus on what's going on right now.  Deal with the challenges you have and prepare for the future instead of rushing forward half cocked.

Card 4, Top Middle, Current Likely Outcome (how the week will go if you simply continue as you are): The Magician.  The Magician is all about control.  He works very hard to gain mastery over all the elements in his environment.  In a positive sense, this means that if you continue as you are, things will be controllable this week.  Be aware, however, that if you try too hard to hold things together that you might slowly watch them fall through your grasp.  A light touch this week will go further than a strong shove.

Card 5, Lower Middle, Likely Outcome if the Advice card is followed: King of Wands (rev).  The King's spontaneity is curbed this week, and he may be a bit irritable.  If you follow the advice card, planning a trip or a new endeavour may be difficult this week.  Better to focus on things already in motion.  It may make you chafe to sit still and work on what you have already begun, but you are more likely to finish those projects if you take the time to work on them this week.

Card 6, Right, What you are moving toward, things to come: Hanged Man (rev).  All of this week is culminating in a situation where you have to sacrifice short term in order to benefit long term.  If you finish your tax return this week, for example, you will have to slog through an unwelcome task, but in the long run you will either get that money returned or (if you owe taxes) you will clear a debt and avoid penalties by taking care of this onerous task.  Or you might need to balance your budget this week.  Just get it done!  You will be glad you finally took care of it!

This week seems to be all about finances and dealing with them in a responsible fashion.  Splurging or avoiding a necessary task won't be a good idea this week.

Keep checking back, I'll have a schedule of where I'll be in the next month or so posted soon!

Many Blessings,

Victoria

Today's Reading...

I will be publishing readings at least weekly.  They will be a snapshot of the week to come.  This week's reading was pulled from the Art Nouveau Tarot, which I find well suited to relationship and love readings.  This is an Elemental reading, which focuses on a central card and how it is affected by the spheres of each Element.

Central Card:  6 Swords (rev):  This week will be a good time to evaluate your relationships and get rid of any negative influences that are keeping you from moving forward. The Art Nouveau Six of Swords is about finding a better place by making a change for the better.

North/Earth Card: 10 Coins (rev): Always a positive card, even reversed, the Ten of Coins indicates that this week will be good for family and financial matters, but that small difficulties may arise.  Deal with small challenges as they come and they won't become big challenges.

East/Air Card: 3 Staves (rev):  Communications may be a bit stilted this week.  As with the Earth card, deal with any problems communicating with partners quickly and clearly.  A little extra effort in connecting with your loved ones will go a long way this week.

South/Fire Card: Devil:  Physical enjoyments abound!  Don't get too caught up in the material aspects of Valentine's Day, flowers and jewelry and candy are just symbols.  Divert this energy toward being creative in your love life and your partner will appreciate the effort much more!

West/Water Card: 2 Cups:  Emotionally this will be a strong week for relationships - take advantage of the holiday to renew your commitment to love!

If you are single this week, remember that you are just as important.  Get a massage, go out for a nice dinner, get a good bottle of wine or chocolate.  Treat yourself, you deserve it!!

This reading really covers all of the contradictions of Valentine's Day and the traditions that surround it.  Keep the important things in mind for you and your loved ones!
